Dr. Ken Takahashi, Japan

Ken Takahashi is Professor of Environmental Epidemiology and Acting Director of the WHO Collaborating Center (WHO-CC) for Occupational Health at the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan. He has been serving as consultant/advisor to the WHO and ILO to several Asian countries. He has been engaged by a number of academic/research institutes in the Asia-Pacific as examiner/advisor. Served twice as elected Board Member of ICOH, current Fellow of the Collegium Ramazzini and editorial board member of several international/domestic scientific journals. He engages in epidemiologic research of occupational diseases with special interest on the global situation of asbestos-related diseases (ARDs).With keen interest to promote international cooperation in the elimination of ARDs, he has been coordinating the Asian Initiative for the Elimination of ARDs (Asian Asbestos Initiative or AAI) and is a facilitator of the WHO-CC Global Plan of Action on ARDs. Domestically he chairs a municipal committee on asbestos diseases.  Japan@gban.net
